Team ant consists of around 85 full time staff in the various initiatives – village work; aagor & also in the Bangalore Store. 80% of the team are involved in village development. With an equal number of men and women across the organisation, we come from 9 different communities and represent 3 religions.

Dr Sunil Kaul, Founder Trustee & currently Managing Trustee (Rowmari, Assam) - A public health doctor who has consulted on malaria, T.B , Maternal and Child Health and other public health issues with national & international agencies; has over 10 years experience in the Army as a medical doctor and associated with Development Sector over 25 years.


Mr Jyoti Basumatary, Trustee (Rowmari, Assam) - Head of Department of Bodo in Bongaigaon College, Bodo writer & thinker; works in various capacities with a number of community based organizations.


Ms. Enakshi Dutta, Trustee (Guwahati) - Studied finance and management, has worked with CAPART for some years. Executive Director of CRS (Catholic Relief Services), Guwahati Regional Office for many years and currently, freelancing to support NGOs and working as a full time mother to her 5 year old child.


Mr.V.K Madhavan, Trustee (New Delhi) – Ex-Executive Director, CHIRAG, a large voluntary organisation working in many districts in the Himalayan State of Uttarakhand; Madhavan is now based in Delhi and works for vocational education and employment of youth; has experience of working in senior positions in NGOs for 21 years; consultant for national and international NGOs.


Dr. Mahfuza Rahman, Trustee (Guwahati) - Professor & Head in the Geography Department of Cotton College in Guwahati; she has been part of the voluntary sector for many years especially working with women in rural areas; was the executive director of RGVN, a microfinance support organization based in Guwahati for two years.


Mr. Mukul Goswami, Trustee (Guwahati) - Executive Director of Ashadeep Society, a pioneer NGO working in the field of mental health in the northeast; strong advocate of rights of mentally ill patients and member of various committees dealing with mental health policy both at State and National level. Awarded the Padmashri (one of the highest civilian awards) by the Indian Government for his contributions to the social sector in January 2014.


Mr. Debojit Brahma, Trustee (Rowmari, Chirang) - A printer & publisher by profession; Debojit also heads the Bodo Cultural Association; he has also translated and printed a number of books into the Bodo Language.


One of our founder trustee, Sh. Ravindranath Upadhyay – a Gandhian of repute who worked in Assam for over 50 years - passed away in April
2010. Sh. Upadhyay was the recipient of the Padmashri, one of the highest civilian awards in India.


Jennifer Liang, current Executive Director


One of the founder-trustees of the ant , Jennifer has also been its Executive Director since 2006. After completing her MSW from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai in 1995, she moved to Assam and has lived and worked in the Northeast region since then. Her main areas of interest are gender equality, development & rights of children, peace building and organising capacity through training. She is inclined to work for women's and girl's empowerment and more specifically to get women into top leadership in various spheres and developing women’s leadership based on feminist principles. She was awarded the U.K Government’s Chevening Gurukul Scholarship in 2013 and studied “Globalisation and Leadership” at the London School of Economics.
