Partners & Networks

The ant is a member and also works with a number of partner organisations and networks across Assam:

1. Lower Assam NGO Forum (LANF) – One of the initiators of this forum, the ant is an active member in this forum of around 25 organisations in 5 Districts of Lower Assam, namely Bongaigaon, Chirang, Goalpara, Barpeta & Kokrajhar. This is a non-funded forum with a healthy tradition of mutual help and self-help. In this tradition, better resourced organisations take the larger responsibility and contribute more in term of resources whereas decisions and admin responsibility is taken collectively.

The forum has stood together in times of crisis and in need. Overnight, we have responded to various crisis situations that plague our BTAD Districts – like taking out a candle-light march for peace in the middle of the Bodo-Bengali Muslim conflict in 2012 or taking out a Shanti Yatra to calm fears of communal violence in conflict affected areas just before the general elections in may 2014 or making very public our protests through media and public rallies the kidnapping of volunteers of a partner NGO by militant groups for ransom.

Contact: Covener : Sh. Dwimalu Narzary Ph: 97062-64702 and email is ndwimalu@gmail.com

(Profile and list of partner NGOs are listed below)

2. Forum for Voluntary Organisations of Assam Various batches of partner NGOs trained by IDeA (the Institute of Development Action, an initiative of the ant) came together after their training to forum a support forum called FVOA (Forum of Voluntary Organisations of Assam).

Convener : Sh. Proshik Das, Chabua , Assam ; email : pdas.chb@gmail.com and phone number : 96784-94812

3. Medico Friend Circle : The Medico Friend Circle (mfc) is a nation-wide platform of secular, pluralist, and pro–people, pro-poor health practitioners, scientists and social activists interested in the health problems of the people of India. Since its inception in 1974, mfc has critically analyzed the existing health care system and has tried to evolve an appropriate approach towards health care which is humane and which can meet the needs of the vast majority of the people in our country. Members of the ant have been part of the convening team and also steering group of MFC. www.mfcindia.org

4. IAG – Inter Agency Group : the ant is also a part of the Inter-Agency Group (IAG) Assam, a collective of civil society partners, and national and international agencies formed for emergency response and information sharing in disasters and emergencies.

The IAG meetings are usually held in one of the IAG member organization office and focus on reviewing the information and SitAns (Situation Analysis) carried out by the different participating agencies and field level NGOs, review the requirements relating to relief supplies, vis-a-vis the provision of relief from the State Government/District Administrations, and coordinate relief/supplies distribution, to avoid duplication of effort.
